Apple’s support for new OS on older hardware is good (e.g. OS-X 10.4 goes on G5 hardware very easily and runs well) so there is little reason to hold off a hardware purchase waiting for a software upgrade … excepting, of course, the cost of the upgrade.

I am also waiting to buy a MacBook for college until Leopard comes out. My PowerBook G4 is barely hanging on. Hurry up Leopard! When is the new line of Apple laptops going to come out?

I could not wait - i realize that leopard was not coming out until october and i can’t wait that long because of school. I bought a MacBook at the end of may and am going to have to upgrade- it would be nice if there was a discount for people who just bought a new computer.

Same here…another student waiting on Leopard to get my macbook. I am hoping Apple will be reluctant to knock out a release date in 08 seeing as how their original date was spring 07. Perhaps this fall, maybe?

I am also considering buying a macbook for school, and was hoping Leopard would come out before I had to leave. If it doesn’t would we have to upgrade to Leopard two months later or not? Because I’ve heard rumors that it could be discounted or free for person(s) who purchased macbooks with tiger between jan-07 and whenever Leopard comes out. Is this true?
