NeoOffice.org has announced the release of NeoOffice 2.1 Early Access through the NeoOffice Early Access Program.
The porting of OpenOffice to the Aqua interface is taking forever and you have to wonder why are they bothering at this point with such an effective use of the OpenOffice framework in NeoOffice. If you read some of the blogs of the OpenOffice developers who are working on the Aqua porting project, it seems as if they are getting virtually no support from Sun and at times, seem to be begging for hardware.
The ability of NeoOffice to offer features that will integrate Microsoft Office 2007 Word documents prior to the announced availabilty of translators from Microsoft is impressive.
NeoOffice 2.1 is curently only available to members of the Early Access program (subscribers) but the free release of the package should come later this month. But then, shouldn’t just about everything else be out by then, too?
I use NeoOffice regularly in my practice and have found that it actually works better than, and is less susceptible to crashing than the OpenOffice package for Ubuntu.
