how funny that over 4 years since the original post and they STILL haven't fixed the problem. although now they send an email saying, 'yes, we realize we over-charged, but we promise we'll give it back eventually. . .

makes you wonder what they're doing with their time and our money -

It took a while for me to notice that I will being billed multiple times by USPS. What a mess. One thing that will cause you to get multiple billed is entering the wrong CCV code. USPS will tell you that the code is incorrect and ask you to enter it again. But you somehow get billed in both cases!

I use USPS because I can securely store small outgoing packages in my in my mailbox. (community mail box that has keys). With FedEx and UPS I would have to schedule a pick-up and hope that someone doesn't steal the outgoing packages from my door step .

We already have private services available. Why not use FedEx or UPS for your shipping? If they didn't have to compete with USPS do you think their service would be cheaper or more expensive than it is now?

I spent tons of money every month with USPS lets' not forget this is a government service and they need the money if they can used for 10 days or 30 days interest free more power to them at the cost of your ribs, this happen all the time and way too often is millions in interest free that they can borrow to cover their losing business, I wonder who is charge they need to go they deserve a class action suit. I had to continually monitor my account for these flaky charges and the waste of time involved , last night I got hammered again with about $300 dolls for labels that did not print.
The solution is to privatize this postal service and the service will turn around to be outstanding, that is guarantee.

I see that this same problem has been going on for years. I spend between $7000 - $10000 a year with USPS, some with FedEx and UPS as well. I've just decided that I won't be using USPS anymore and I am on my way to my bank to file fraud charges. They owe me $419.11 for continually charging postage that was never printed. I usually get my money back in about 10 days or so but even then it is ridiculous to have to wait to be "paid back" for money that should never have been taken in the first place. For one of my many refunds that they owe me, they charged my bank account $66.44 - 5 times in a row! My bank even called me to find out what the heck was going on. This was 6 weeks ago and I still do not have my money back. When I called today (waited for more than an hour on hold) all she told me was that she doesn't know why my refunds haven't gone through and she would pass it on. That I should expect an "email" in the next few days. That's it!?!?!? I don't know about you but $419.11 is a lot of money to me to be "loaning" to the USPS for services not rendered. I am furious about this and believe that it happens way more often than it should so if anyone is interested in getting a class action suit going, please feel free to contact me.

Sad (but typical) experience and sad advice, indeed, Ivan.

US Postal Service SHOULD have advised you:

1) "This is 'mail fraud'; contact the USPS postal inspectors."

2) "Contact your bank's Fraud Prevention unit; advise them of the fraud and have the fraudulent charges 'disputed' (cancelled)."

3) "Use United Parcel Service for fraud-free, online, label printing and give your parcel to any UPS driver or UPS drop-off location.

-- (Office Depot and Staples have much better morning, evening and weekend hours than the USPS post offices).
-- ('Not as "official", but maybe you have a friendly, local, retailer, corner-store, etc. that gets frequent UPS deliveries where you might have a co-operative business-person who would take your UPS parcel for UPS pickup.)

-- (IMPORTANT: Give your letter carrier a nice Holiday gift since these people are the smiling employees who actually SERVE you; Smile and say "Thank you" when you DO go to the post office window. Tell your local postmaster about what GOOD service you get from your letter carrier.)

If you become a 100% UPS customer, USPS will stop defrauding you. For an extra nickel or dime ---about 1% in my experience---, you can even purchase the "carbon offset" option on your UPS parcel.

Be kind to your letter carrier, though; he/she does NOT represent the online postal fraud portion of his/her USPS employer that we're experiencing in this forum.

As a follow-up, I just got off the phone with the Click N Ship error message hotline at (877) 247-4707. After having waited on hold for 1hr 5m, I was told that the 5 charges *SHOULD* drop off of my credit card account in 7-10 business days, and that their investigation team will "look into" the reason why my label didn't print out. The customer service supervisor acknowledged that I did nothing wrong, though his advice is that I should go into the post office & pay there. Huh? What's the point of offering the "convenient" online service if you're telling me to just go in & pay? I figure that after all of this aggravation I may as well get this done online & enjoy my $6 savings, but no.

Thanks for nothing, USPS.

Rather than pay at the post office, I tried to "conveniently" pay for my shipping online and save a lousy $6, but as I've now been charged 5 times with no shipping label to show for it, I'm depressed.

I have been using USPS Click n Ship for many years 6 days a week and many times a day. It is beyond me how so many people screw up such a simple program. I am using Windows7 with Firefox 7 now. I have only had to file for a credit a couple of times when my printer messed up and was credited back in a few days. I have seen the USPS server go down a few times but I have never had problems like some of you explain. The other day I even made an attempt to try my best to make the program bill me twice doing all sort of things you should not do when using a shopping cart.

The thing I find so frustrating is trying to get a hold of someone in USPS Click n Ship software department. These people must be above God because it is much easier to talk to God than these programers if they really exist.

The bottom line is Thank Goodness for web sites like this one for the ones that end up with USPS Click n Ship problems because you would not get any help from USPS Click n Ship personal then again look who we are dealing with, Big Brother that is going to take care of us.

One more thing, it looks like the fraud may have originated from e-bay. I'm speculating here because I just found a fraud alert with regards to Sellers using USPS Click n Ship, but I was a Buyer and was some how effected if in fact it was through e-bay that this happened.
